Andrew Hagedorn loved Westminster College. He immediately felt at home and met many of his best friends here. He was active on campus, serving as an orientation programming assistant, a member of Griffin Quest, and a Campus Sustainability Fellow—something he grew very passionate about. Andrew was also Speaker of the Senate during his senior year.
He excelled in the classroom, too. A member of the Scholars Program, he was also a recipient of a Presidential Scholarship, the Daniel Singleton Scholarship, and humanitarian scholarships. He graduated magna cum laude in 2015 with a bachelor of science in sociology and minors in psychology and environmental studies.
Andrew truly cared for everyone and was happiest in service to others. He traveled to Chiapas, Mexico with Youthlinc, taught lacrosse to kids at Neighborhood House, and spent many hours at the food bank. He helped raise $1 million for the Road Home and to establish the first Milestone House for young men aging out of foster care.
He passed away in October 2021. In lieu of flowers, Andrew’s family invites donations to Westminster in his memory. Donations to Westminster will align with Andrew’s passions and support programs such as the Legacy Program, and provide academic and social support to first-generation, underrepresented and low-income Westminster students.
