Honors Practitioner In Residence

Honors College faculty will host visitors with expertise on the subject matter of Honors core seminars. Rather than delivering a one-hour evening lecture, these content specialists engage members of the Westminster community over 3-4 days in deep conversation in different settings.

In this year’s pilot version of the program, renowned Utah muralist Chris Peterson worked closely with students in “Environments and the Space of Art” to explore the role of public art in our society. After leading students on a mural tour around the streets of Salt Lake City, Peterson met over a series of weeks with students to envision and then create a mural for the Simonds Seminar Room that captures the excitement of honors learning.

Student learning is enriched by these outside voices and students establish connections to communities beyond Westminster’s walls. Faculty will have another tool at their disposal to round out their curriculum and partner with other academic units. Your support of Westminster’s Honors College will help make possible the vibrant, engaged learning experience our students seek.
